Turin Airport is about 1 h 30, but Malpensa has the widest choice of long-haul and international flights. For most guests flying in from abroad, Malpensa with a private car straight to the hotel is the simplest option, with motorway most of the way and no border.
Champoluc and the Monterosa Ski Area
Champoluc lies at 1,568 m at the head of the Val d’Ayas, below Monte Rosa. Its lifts are part of Monterosa Ski, linked on skis with Gressoney in the Lys valley and Alagna Valsesia in Piedmont. The three valleys are connected only on skis: there is no road over the ridges, so by car Gressoney is about an hour and a quarter away, down to the main valley and up again. We always reach Champoluc from Verrès, on a road that is open all year.
Practical Tips: Weekends, Ski Bags and the Drive Back
Champoluc is a favourite weekend resort for people from Milan and Turin, so Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons on the A5 and A4 can be busy; we plan extra time. Tell us how many ski bags you travel with so we send the V-Class if needed. For an afternoon flight from Malpensa, we usually suggest leaving Champoluc about four hours before take-off.
