Malpensa or Milan to Cervinia by Private Car: About 2½ Hours

A private transfer from Malpensa to Cervinia covers about 180 km and takes around 2 h 30 to Breuil-Cervinia, at 2,050 m at the head of the Valtournenche valley in the Aosta Valley. From central Milan it is also about 2 h 30, from Linate about 2 h 45 and from Bergamo about 3 hours. Many of our winter guests fly into Malpensa and never go into Milan at all: the driver meets them inside arrivals and takes the motorway to Châtillon, then the mountain road up to the door of their hotel. The price is for the whole car, not per person, and includes fuel, motorway tolls and parking.

Unlike Zermatt, Cervinia is open to cars, so we drive you right to your hotel, chalet or ski hire. The whole route is in Italy, with no border and no vignette. By public transport the same trip means a train from Milan to Châtillon-Saint-Vincent, often with a change in Chivasso, and a bus up the valley: around three and a half to four hours from Milan, and longer from Malpensa, with your ski bags on every step.

Cervinia shares the Matterhorn Ski Paradise with Zermatt: with the international pass you can ski over the Theodul Pass into Switzerland and back. We also drive to Valtournenche, 9 km down the valley. Check your price and book online →

Why book with a local company? Global booking platforms pass your trip to whichever operator is free, so you rarely know who is coming. With MilanobyCar you deal with the same small Milan team from the first email to the moment you arrive. When we work with trusted local partner chauffeurs, MilanobyCar remains responsible for your booking, the car and the price.

Which Airport for Cervinia: Malpensa, Linate, Bergamo or Turin?

Malpensa and Milan city are both about 2 h 30 from Breuil-Cervinia by car, Linate about 2 h 45 and Bergamo about 3 hours. Turin Airport is closer, about 1 h 45, but has fewer international flights; Geneva is about 2 h 30 through the Mont Blanc tunnel. For most guests flying in from abroad, Malpensa with a private car straight to the hotel is the simplest option, with the widest choice of flights.

Cervinia, the Matterhorn and the Ski Link to Zermatt

Breuil-Cervinia lies at 2,050 m below the south face of the Matterhorn, which the Italians call Il Cervino. Its slopes join those of Valtournenche and, across the Theodul Pass, of Zermatt in Switzerland: together they form the Matterhorn Ski Paradise, one of the highest ski areas in the Alps, with an international pass for skiing on both sides of the border. Unlike Zermatt, Cervinia can be reached by car right up to the hotels.

The Road to Cervinia in Winter

From the Châtillon exit of the A5 motorway, a regional road climbs 27 km up the Valtournenche to Cervinia. It is kept open all winter; after heavy snowfall chains can be required for a few hours, and our cars are equipped for winter. On Saturdays in high season the valley road can be slow in both directions, so we plan extra time. For an afternoon flight from Malpensa, we usually suggest leaving Cervinia about five hours before take-off.
