Private Transfer Milan
& Malpensa to Cortina
Door-to-door Mercedes with an English-speaking driver from your Milan hotel, Linate, Bergamo or Malpensa arrivals to your hotel or chalet in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the Queen of the Dolomites and host of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. About 4 h 30 from Milan, motorway almost all the way and no mountain pass, from €1,205 per car.
Milan or Malpensa to Cortina d’Ampezzo by Private Car
A private transfer from Milan to Cortina d’Ampezzo covers about 405 km and takes around 4 h 30: the A4 motorway past Bergamo, Brescia, Verona and Padua to Mestre, the A27 north to Belluno, then the Alemagna road up the Cadore valley past Longarone and Pieve di Cadore to Cortina at 1,224 m. From Malpensa it takes about 4 h 45, from Linate about 4 h 20 and from Bergamo about 3 h 55. The price is for the whole car, not per person, and includes fuel, motorway tolls and parking.
The whole route is in Italy, with no border, no tunnel toll and no vignette, and it crosses no mountain pass: the road up the Cadore valley is a valley road, open all winter. The high passes around Cortina, the Falzarego, the Giau and the Tre Croci, lead to other valleys and can close or need chains after snowfall, so we never rely on them for a transfer. By public transport the trip means a train from Milan to Venice-Mestre or Calalzo and then a bus: five hours or more with your ski bags on every step.
We drive to every hotel and chalet in Cortina d’Ampezzo, from the pedestrian centre and Corso Italia to Pocol, Cortina’s hamlets and the Faloria, Tofana and Cinque Torri lifts, all on the Dolomiti Superski area, and on request on to San Vito di Cadore and Misurina. Which Airport for Cortina: Venice, Treviso or the Milan Airports?
Venice Marco Polo is the closest major airport to Cortina, about 2 hours by car, and Treviso is about the same. Of the Milan airports, Bergamo is the closest at about 3 h 55, then Linate at about 4 h 20 and Malpensa at about 4 h 45. Malpensa has the most long-haul flights, so many of our guests land there, or combine a few days in Milan with the Dolomites. Whichever airport you fly into, we meet you inside arrivals and drive you to the door of your hotel.
Cortina, the Queen of the Dolomites
Cortina d’Ampezzo lies at 1,224 m in a wide basin of the Ampezzo valley, ringed by the Tofane, Cristallo, Sorapiss and Cinque Torri, in the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. Its ski areas, Tofana, Faloria-Cristallo and Cinque Torri-Lagazuoi, are part of the Dolomiti Superski, and the Olympia delle Tofane slope hosts the women’s Ski World Cup every winter. In February 2026 Cortina co-hosted the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics with Milan, seventy years after the 1956 Games.
Practical Tips: Saturdays, Ski Bags and the Drive Back
Saturday is change-over day in the Dolomites and the A4 around Venice-Mestre can be slow, so we plan extra time. In winter we always drive up the Cadore valley, never over the Falzarego, the Giau or the Tre Croci, so snow on the passes does not affect your transfer. Tell us how many ski bags you travel with so we send the V-Class if needed. For an afternoon flight from Malpensa, we usually suggest leaving Cortina about seven and a half hours before take-off, and about four hours for Venice.
