Is the Mont Blanc Tunnel toll included?
No. Motorway tolls, fuel and parking are included, but the Mont Blanc Tunnel fee is not and is added to your quote before you book.
Is there a train from Milan to Chamonix?
Not directly. The usual route is a train to Geneva and then a bus or train into the Chamonix valley, six hours or more with changes. A private car takes about 2 h 45 to your door with no changes.
What happens if the Mont Blanc Tunnel is closed?
The tunnel is occasionally closed at night or for planned maintenance. In that case we drive through the Great St Bernard Tunnel and Martigny, and tell you the new journey time in advance.
Can you take our skis and snowboards?
Yes. Ski and snowboard bags fit in the Mercedes V-Class together with the luggage of up to 6 passengers. Tell us how many ski bags you have when you book so we send the right car.
Can you drop us at our chalet?
Yes. We drive to hotels and chalets in Chamonix, Argentière, Les Houches and the rest of the valley. For chalets on narrow hillside roads, send us the exact address and we plan the drop-off in advance.
Can we stop in Aosta or Courmayeur?
Yes. Aosta and Courmayeur are directly on the route. The driver parks and waits while you visit, your luggage stays in the car, and the extra time is included in the quote you confirm before paying.
Do you also drive from Chamonix back to Milan?
Yes. We collect you at your hotel or chalet in Chamonix and drive you to any Milan address or to Malpensa, Linate or Bergamo airport. Chamonix to Milan starts from €765 and Chamonix to Malpensa from €750 per car. For an afternoon flight from Malpensa, leave Chamonix about five hours before take-off.
Do you drive to Chamonix from Lake Como?

Train, Bus or Private Car from Milan to Chamonix?
There is no direct train between Milan and Chamonix. The usual public route is a train to Geneva, about four hours, then a bus or a train into the Chamonix valley, which with changes and waiting takes six hours or more. A few coach services run via the Mont Blanc Tunnel in the ski season. A private car takes about 2 h 45 from Milan to your door, with no changes, and is by far the easiest option with ski bags, children or a group of three to six people sharing one price.
The Mont Blanc Tunnel and the Border
The Mont Blanc Tunnel links Courmayeur in Italy with Chamonix in France. The toll is not included in our price and is added to your quote. The tunnel is occasionally closed at night or for planned maintenance; in that case we drive through the Great St Bernard Tunnel and Martigny, which takes longer. Italy and France are both in the Schengen area, so there is normally no passport control, but carry a valid passport or national ID card for possible checks at the tunnel.
Practical Tips: Ski Season, Snow and the Drive Back
On winter Saturdays the Aosta Valley and the roads into Chamonix are busy with changeover traffic, so a morning departure is usually the smoothest. Winter tyres or chains are compulsory in the mountains, and our cars are equipped for snow. For an afternoon flight from Malpensa we usually suggest leaving Chamonix about five hours before take-off.
