Malpensa or Milan to Verbier by Private Car

A private transfer from Malpensa to Verbier covers about 250 km and takes around 3 h 30: the A4 and A5 motorways past Ivrea to Aosta, up the Great St Bernard valley and through the Great St Bernard Tunnel into Switzerland, then down the Val d’Entremont via Orsières and Le Châble and up the last bends to Verbier at 1,500 m. From Milan city it takes about 3 h 40, from Linate about 3 h 40 and from Bergamo about 3 h 55. The price is for the whole car, not per person, and includes fuel, motorway tolls, the Swiss vignette and parking; the Great St Bernard Tunnel toll is not included.

The tunnel is open all year, while the Great St Bernard Pass above it is closed in winter. By train the trip means Milan to Domodossola, Brig and Martigny, then the regional train to Le Châble and the gondola up to Verbier: four and a half to five hours with three changes and your ski bags on every step. With a private car you go from the arrivals hall to the door of your chalet.

We drive to every chalet and hotel in Verbier and Le Châble, and on request to the other resorts of the 4 Vallées: Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon and La Tzoumaz. Check your price and book online →

Is Malpensa or Geneva closer to Verbier?

Geneva Airport is closer, about 2 hours by car, while Malpensa is about 3 h 30. Malpensa often has better long-haul and Italian connections or lower fares, and we drive straight from arrivals to your chalet without going into Milan.

Can you pick us up at Malpensa and drive straight to Verbier?

Yes. The driver follows your flight in real time, waits inside arrivals at Terminal 1 or 2 with a name board, includes 60 minutes of free waiting after landing and drives straight to Verbier.

Is the Great St Bernard Tunnel open in winter?

Yes. The Great St Bernard Tunnel is open all year and is the usual winter route from Milan to Verbier; only the pass road above it is closed in winter. The tunnel toll is not included in our price. Is there a train from Milan to Verbier?

Yes, with changes: a train from Milan to Domodossola and Brig, then Martigny, the regional train to Le Châble and the gondola up to Verbier, about four and a half to five hours. A private car takes about 3 h 40 from Milan to your chalet door.

Do we need a passport to go from Milan to Verbier?

Switzerland is in the Schengen area, so there is normally no passport control, but it is not in the EU and customs checks can happen at the Great St Bernard Tunnel. Every passenger should carry a valid passport or national ID card, and goods above the duty-free allowance must be declared.

Malpensa, Milan or Geneva for Verbier?

Geneva is the closest airport to Verbier, about 2 hours by car. Malpensa is about 3 h 30 through the Great St Bernard Tunnel, with no need to cross Milan. From central Milan and Linate it is about 3 h 40 and from Bergamo about 3 h 55. Malpensa has many long-haul and international flights, so for many guests landing there and driving straight to Verbier is the easiest way in. Whichever Milan airport you fly into, we meet you inside arrivals and drive you to the door of your chalet.

Verbier and the 4 Vallées

Verbier sits at 1,500 m on a sunny balcony above the Val de Bagnes in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is the largest resort of the 4 Vallées ski area, which links Verbier with Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon and La Tzoumaz, and its lifts climb to Mont Fort at 3,330 m. The Bec des Rosses face above the village hosts the final of the Freeride World Tour, the Xtreme Verbier, and the resort is known for its chalets, its off-piste and its lively après-ski.

Practical Tips: the Tunnel, the Border and the Drive Back

The Great St Bernard Tunnel is open all year and is the usual winter route; the pass road above it is closed from autumn to late spring. The tunnel toll is paid at the tunnel and is not included in our price. Switzerland is in the Schengen area but not in the EU, so customs checks can happen and every passenger needs a valid passport or national ID card. If the tunnel is closed we drive over the Simplon Pass via Brig and Martigny, about 25 minutes longer. For an afternoon flight from Malpensa, we usually suggest leaving Verbier about six hours before take-off.
