Malpensa or Milan to Laax by Private Car: About 3 Hours

A private transfer from Milan to Laax covers about 225 km and takes around 3 hours: north past Como and Lugano to Bellinzona, through the San Bernardino Tunnel on the A13 motorway to Thusis and Reichenau, then up the hill to Flims and Laax. From Malpensa the trip is about 2 h 50, from Linate about 3 hours and from Bergamo about 3 h 15. The price is for the whole car, not per person, and includes fuel, motorway tolls, the Swiss vignette and parking.

The San Bernardino Tunnel is part of the Swiss motorway and is open all year, so there is no mountain pass to cross and no tunnel toll to pay. By public transport the trip from Milan means a train to Zurich or Chur and the PostBus up to Flims and Laax, about four hours with two changes and your ski bags on every platform.

We drive to every hotel and chalet in Laax Murschetg, Laax Dorf, Flims Dorf, Flims Waldhaus and Falera, including the hotels at the base of the lifts. Check your price and book online →

Milan, Malpensa or Zurich for Laax?

Zurich Airport is about 1 h 45 from Laax by car. Malpensa and Milan are about 2 h 50 to 3 hours, with a clear motorway run through the San Bernardino Tunnel, and they often have better connections from Italy and on many long-haul routes. Whichever Milan airport you fly into, we meet you inside arrivals and drive you to the door of your hotel.

Flims Laax Falera

Laax, Flims and Falera share one of the largest ski areas in Switzerland, in the canton of Graubünden above the Rhine Gorge. Its lifts climb to the Vorab glacier at about 3,000 m, and Laax is known worldwide for its snow parks and halfpipe, which host the LAAX Open snowboard event every January. In Flims, the turquoise Lake Cauma and the Ruinaulta gorge are worth a visit in any season.

Practical Tips: the Border and the Drive Back

Switzerland is in the Schengen area but not in the EU, so customs checks can happen at Chiasso and every passenger needs a valid passport or national ID card. Tell us how many ski and snowboard bags you travel with so we send the V-Class if needed. For an afternoon flight from Malpensa, we usually suggest leaving Laax about five and a half hours before take-off.
