Serravalle from Milan, without carrying a single bag
Serravalle Designer Outlet, run by McArthurGlen, opened in 2000 as Italy’s first designer outlet, and the company now describes it as Europe’s largest luxury designer outlet. It is laid out like a small town, with streets and squares lined by more than 230 brands, from Italian fashion houses to sportswear and homeware, and is generally open every day from 10:00 to 20:00 (check holiday hours before you go). It lies at Serravalle Scrivia in Piedmont, about 92 km from Milan, roughly an hour on the A7 motorway, which makes it one of the easiest of our day trips from Milan.
Shuttle buses run from central Milan, but they leave at fixed times and you carry everything you buy until you board. With a private car your driver waits at the outlet all day: when the bags get heavy, you drop them in the boot and carry on shopping, and the car is ready whenever you are. A V-Class has plenty of room for a family or a group of friends and all their purchases. The price is per vehicle, not per person: from €655 with an E-Class for two, from €740 with a V-Class for up to six.
