Monza from Milan, for motorsport and more

The Autodromo Nazionale Monza opened in 1922 inside the park of the Royal Villa, and it is the world’s third purpose-built motor racing circuit, after Brooklands and Indianapolis. Its long straights and fast corners earned it the name Temple of Speed, and the old banked oval, with curves of about 30 degrees, still stands in the woods beside the modern 5.793 km Grand Prix track. Monza is only about 20 km from the centre of Milan, so it fits easily into a day that also takes in the town, one of the closest day trips from Milan.

On days without racing, the circuit runs guided visits of the podium and race control and short track tours by minibus; what is available depends on the event calendar, so we check it with you when you book. The rest of the day belongs to the Royal Villa, built in 1777–1780 for Archduke Ferdinand of Austria, and to Monza Cathedral, which keeps the Iron Crown of Lombardy. The price is per vehicle, not per person: from €600 with an E-Class for two, from €680 with a V-Class for up to six.

Frequently Asked Questions

Monza Circuit Tour from Milan — FAQ

How far is the Monza circuit from Milan?
About 20 km from the centre of Milan, 30 to 40 minutes by car depending on traffic. The circuit is inside Monza Park, which is enclosed by a wall about 14 km long, so your driver takes you straight to the right gate.
How much does a private Monza tour from Milan cost?
From €600 per car with a Mercedes E-Class (up to 2 passengers) and from €680 with a V-Class (up to 6), for 8 hours with 150 km included. Weekends are +20%, major holidays +50%, extra hours €75 or €85.
Can we always visit the circuit?
No. The circuit is busy with races, tests and events for much of the year, and the guided visits and track tours depend on the calendar. Book the circuit tour directly on the official Monza circuit website for your date, and we plan the rest of the day around it.
Can you take us to the Italian Grand Prix?
Yes, for ticket holders. The Grand Prix weekend is usually in early September, with heavy traffic and road closures around the park. We drop you as close as access rules allow and collect you after the race; book well ahead, as cars are in high demand that week.
Can we combine Monza with Lake Como?
Yes. Monza is on the way north, and Como is about 30 minutes further on. With the 150 km included, the circuit in the morning and the lake in the afternoon is an easy day.
Is a guide included?
No. Your driver is not a licensed tour guide and does not guide inside the circuit or the villa, but knows Monza well and can recommend places, restaurants and the best spots in the park, and give practical tips. A licensed local guide can be booked on request.

Monza by private car or by train?

The train from Milan to Monza station is quick, but the circuit is about 5 km further, deep in the park, and public transport there is limited. A private car takes you from your hotel to the circuit gate, then to the villa and the cathedral, without walking long distances across the park.

Why Monza is more than a racetrack

Monza Park is one of the largest walled parks in Europe, laid out around a neoclassical royal palace. The town has a fine Gothic cathedral and a medieval centre, and the Iron Crown connects it to the history of the Lombard kings. For motorsport fans the circuit is the reason to go; for everyone else, the day has plenty to offer.

How much is a Monza day trip?

MilanobyCar charges a fixed price per car: from €600 for two passengers in a Mercedes E-Class and from €680 for up to six in a V-Class, for 8 hours including driver, fuel, tolls and parking. The exact price for your date appears in the booking form.
