A private transfer from Milan city to Monaco starts from €965 per car for a Mercedes E-Class with up to 2 passengers, and from €1,050 for a Mercedes V-Class with up to 6 passengers, on a weekday daytime transfer. From Malpensa it starts from €1,030 and from Linate from €975. Night-time transfers, high-season weekends, public holidays and big events such as the Grand Prix are priced differently. The price is per car, not per person, and includes fuel, Italian and French motorway tolls and parking. Enter your trip in the booking form to see the exact price for your date.
How long is the drive from Milan to Monaco?
About 3 h 15 for the 310 km from central Milan to Monte Carlo, about 3 h 30 from Malpensa and about 3 h 15 from Linate. The route goes south on the A7 to Genoa and then west on the A10 coastal motorway past Savona and Sanremo to the French border at Ventimiglia. On summer weekends allow 30 to 45 minutes more.
Is there a direct train from Milan to Monaco?
No. You take a train from Milano Centrale to Genoa or Ventimiglia and change to a French regional train along the coast to Monaco-Monte-Carlo station. With connections it often takes four and a half hours or more. A private car takes about 3 h 15 to your hotel door with no changes.
Do we need a passport to drive from Milan to Monaco?
Italy, France and Monaco have open borders, so there is normally no passport control. French police sometimes check vehicles near Ventimiglia, so every passenger should carry a valid passport or national ID card. Monaco itself has no border control.
Are the French motorway tolls included?
Yes. Fuel, Italian and French motorway tolls and parking are all included in the price you confirm. There is nothing extra to pay the driver on the day.
Can you drop us at our hotel in Monte Carlo?
Yes. Hôtel de Paris, the Hermitage, the Fairmont and most hotels in Monte Carlo and Fontvieille have a drive-up entrance, so the driver stops at the door. For an apartment or a yacht berth at Port Hercule or Fontvieille, send us the exact address or berth and we plan the drop-off in advance.
Can we stop on the way to Monaco?
Yes. The Serravalle Designer Outlet, Genoa and Sanremo are all on or near the route. Tell us which stop you would like when you book: the driver parks and waits while you visit, your luggage stays in the car, and the extra time is included in the quote you confirm before paying.
Do you drive to Monaco during the Grand Prix?
Yes, but during the Monaco Grand Prix in May and the Monaco Yacht Show in September many streets are closed or restricted and pick-up points can change. Book early, tell us about your event passes and allow extra time; prices on those dates differ from standard dates.
Do you also drive from Monaco back to Milan?
Yes. We collect you at your hotel in Monaco and drive you to any Milan address or to Malpensa, Linate or Bergamo airport. Monaco to Milan starts from €935 and Monaco to Malpensa from €1,055 per car. For an afternoon flight from Malpensa, leave Monaco about six hours before take-off.
Do you drive to Monaco from Lake Como?
Yes. Como to Monaco starts from €905, Tremezzo from €990 and Bellagio from €1,010 per car, about 3 h 45 to 4 h 15 depending on where you stay on the lake.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes. Baby seats, child seats and boosters are free of charge on long journeys such as Milan to Monaco. Tell us the age of each child when you book so we can prepare the right seats.
How many passengers and suitcases fit in the car?
The Mercedes E-Class takes up to 2 passengers with 2 large suitcases and cabin bags. The Mercedes V-Class takes up to 6 passengers with their luggage, at the same price for 1 to 6 people. With several large suitcases we recommend the V-Class rather than the S-Class, whose boot is smaller.
Is MilanobyCar a local company?
Yes. MilanobyCar is a licensed NCC private hire company based in Milan since 1993, run by Adrian and a small team. We are not a global platform or a booking app: you deal with the same people from the first email to the end of your trip. When we work with trusted local partner chauffeurs, MilanobyCar remains responsible for your booking.

Train or Private Car from Milan to Monaco?
There is no direct train between Milan and Monaco. The usual route is a train from Milano Centrale to Genoa or Ventimiglia and then a French regional train along the coast to Monaco-Monte-Carlo station, which with the change and connections often takes four and a half hours or more. For one person travelling light the train is cheaper. A private car takes about 3 h 15 from Milan to the hotel door, with no changes, which makes the difference with luggage, children, an early flight or a group of three to six people sharing one price.
Crossing the Border and Arriving in Monte Carlo
Italy, France and Monaco have open borders, but French police sometimes check vehicles near Ventimiglia, so keep a passport or national ID card with you. Monaco itself has no border control. After the French motorway, the road descends to Monte Carlo in a few minutes; Hôtel de Paris, the Hermitage and the hotels around Casino Square and the port all have drive-up entrances. For an apartment or a yacht berth, send us the exact address or berth and we plan the drop-off in advance.
Practical Tips: Grand Prix, Events and the Drive Back
During the Monaco Grand Prix in May and the Monaco Yacht Show in September many streets are closed or restricted, so pick-up points can change and traffic is slow; book early and tell us your event pass details. On the way back, for an afternoon flight from Malpensa we usually suggest leaving Monaco about six hours before take-off, and about five and a half hours for Linate.
