Bellagio to the A9

Verona — City of Romeo and Juliet
Positioned perfectly halfway between Bellagio and Venice, Verona deserves at least 90 minutes. Walk to Juliet's balcony on Via Cappello, stand inside the magnificent Roman Arena (one of the best-preserved in the world), and take a table at any of the trattorias on Piazza delle Erbe for lunch. The old town is compact, beautiful, and deeply underrated. Your chauffeur parks near the historic centre and waits for your call.
Sirmione — Thermal Springs on the Lake
A narrow peninsula jutting into Lake Garda, Sirmione is one of Italy's most atmospheric small towns. The 13th-century Scaliger Castle rises directly from the water, and the ancient Roman ruins of the Grotte di Catullo crown the peninsula's tip. If time allows, the thermal baths at Aquaria are an extraordinary detour. Sirmione adds roughly 45 minutes to the route and is particularly beautiful in the morning light.
Bergamo Alta — A Walled City Above the Plain
The upper town of Bergamo (Citta Alta) sits behind 16th-century Venetian walls on a hill above the modern city, just 65 km from Bellagio. A funicular connects the lower and upper towns. The Piazza Vecchia is one of the finest medieval squares in Lombardy. This is an ideal stop for those departing early from Bellagio who want to break the journey before the motorway begins. Allow 1 hour.
Padua — Scrovegni Chapel and Saint Anthony
Just 40 km from Venice, Padua makes an excellent final stop before reaching the lagoon. The Scrovegni Chapel — containing Giotto's groundbreaking 14th-century fresco cycle — requires advance booking but is one of the most important works of art in Italy. The Basilica of Saint Anthony and the Prato della Valle, one of Europe's largest squares, are also within easy walking distance. Allow 2 hours and book the chapel well in advance.

How long is the transfer from Bellagio to Venice?
The direct drive from Bellagio to Venice takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours, covering around 300 km. The route follows the A9 motorway from Como to Milan, then the A4 east through Bergamo, Brescia, and Verona to the Venice lagoon. With a sightseeing stop in Verona or Sirmione, plan for 5 to 7 hours total. We recommend departing between 07:00 and 09:00 to arrive in Venice with the full afternoon ahead of you.
How much does a private transfer from Bellagio to Venice cost?

Can we stop in Verona on the way?
Absolutely — and we highly recommend it. Verona is the most popular intermediate stop on this route, positioned almost exactly halfway between Bellagio and Venice. Your chauffeur will park in or near the historic centre and wait while you explore at your own pace. Allow at least 90 minutes to see the Roman Arena, Juliet's House, and have lunch on Piazza delle Erbe. Sirmione on Lake Garda is another excellent alternative for a shorter stop of around 45 minutes.
Where exactly does the driver drop us in Venice?
Private vehicles can enter Venice as far as Piazzale Roma (the main bus and coach terminal, with water bus connections to all parts of the city) or the Tronchetto car park island. Your chauffeur will drop you at the option closest to your hotel and assist with luggage. From either point, ACTV water bus Line 1 or Line 2 runs the entire length of the Grand Canal, or you can take a private water taxi directly to your hotel's entrance if it is canal-accessible.
Is a water taxi to my Venice hotel included in the price?
The water taxi from Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto to your hotel is not included in the land transfer, as water taxis are independently operated. However, we can pre-arrange a licensed water taxi for you at an additional cost, with the boat waiting at Piazzale Roma when you arrive by road. Simply let us know when booking and we will coordinate the handover.

What vehicle is best for a family with young children?
The Mercedes V-Class is ideal for families with children. It seats up to 6 passengers with generous boot space for luggage, and child seats and booster seats are available at no extra charge for all ages — please specify the ages and weights of your children when booking. The sliding side door also makes boarding and alighting with young children much easier than a standard saloon.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance for standard transfers. For summer peak season (July and August), the Venice Film Festival (late August to early September), and Venice Carnival (January–February), we advise booking several weeks ahead as availability is limited. For same-day requests, contact us directly by WhatsApp or phone and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Can I depart from a different Lake Como location, not Bellagio?
Yes. We pick up from any location on Lake Como: Varenna, Menaggio, Cernobbio, Tremezzo, Lenno, Como city, or any hotel or villa on either shore. If your starting point differs significantly from Bellagio, the price may vary slightly — contact us with your exact pick-up address and we will provide a firm fixed quote.

Line 1 is the Grand Canal route, stopping at every landing stage and taking approximately 45 minutes from Piazzale Roma to San Marco. Line 2 is the express service, reaching San Marco in around 20 minutes.
