## Milan or Malpensa to Bressanone by Private Car

A **private transfer from Milan to Bressanone** covers about 320 km and takes around 3 h 45: the A4 motorway past Bergamo and Brescia to Verona, then north on the A22 Brenner motorway past Trento, Bolzano and Chiusa to the Bressanone/Varna exit, a few minutes from the old town. From Linate it takes about 3 h 30 and from Bergamo, the closest Milan airport, about 3 h 05. From Malpensa, on the far side of Milan, it is about 4 hours. The price is for the whole car, not per person, and includes fuel, motorway tolls and parking.

The whole route is in Italy, on the motorway, with no border, no tunnel toll and no mountain pass, so it is open all year. By train the trip means a change in Verona with your luggage, and for hotels on the Plose a taxi or bus on top. With a private car you go from arrivals or your Milan hotel straight to your door.

We drive to every hotel in Bressanone and the Valle Isarco, to Novacella Abbey, to the Plose ski area and regularly up to the **Forestis Dolomites** hotel at Palmschoss, about 1,800 m up the Plose, and on request into the Val di Funes. [Check your price and book online →](#mci-book)

**Why book with a local company?** Global booking platforms pass your trip to whichever operator is free, so you rarely know who is coming. With MilanobyCar you deal with the same small Milan team from the first email to the moment you arrive. When we work with trusted local partner chauffeurs, MilanobyCar remains responsible for your booking, the car and the price.

 ### How long does it take from Milan to Bressanone and to the Forestis?

About 3 h 45 for the 320 km from Milan city to Bressanone, on the A4 motorway to Verona and the A22 Brenner motorway. The Forestis, up the Plose, takes about 4 h 20 from Milan, 4 h 35 from Malpensa and 3 h 50 from Bergamo. Saturday traffic on the Brenner motorway in winter can add 30 to 45 minutes.

 ### Is the road up to the Forestis Dolomites open in winter?

Yes. The Forestis is at Palmschoss, about 1,800 m on the Plose, some 20 km of mountain road above Bressanone. There is no pass to cross, and the road is cleared all winter for the Plose ski area. Our cars are winter-equipped and we drive you to the hotel entrance.

 ### Is there a mountain pass on the way to Bressanone?

No. The route is motorway all the way to the Bressanone/Varna exit, open all year. Mountain passes in the area, such as the Passo delle Erbe towards Val Badia, are narrow and can close or need chains after snowfall, so we do not use them in winter.

 ### Which airport is closest to Bressanone?

Verona is the closest major airport, about 2 h 10 by car; transfers from Verona are on request, often with trusted local partner chauffeurs, and MilanobyCar remains responsible for your booking. Innsbruck, across the Brenner in Austria, is about 1 h 15 away. Of the Milan airports, Bergamo is the closest at about 3 h 05, then Linate at about 3 h 30 and Malpensa at about 4 hours.

 ### Can you pick us up at Malpensa and drive straight to the Forestis?

Yes. The driver follows your flight in real time, waits inside arrivals at Terminal 1 or 2 with a name board, includes 60 minutes of free waiting after landing and drives round Milan on the motorway, straight to South Tyrol and up the Plose. On a drive this long we plan a coffee stop on the way.

 ### Do you also drive from Bressanone back to Milan or Malpensa?

Yes. Bressanone to Milan city starts from €975, to Malpensa from €1,080, to Linate from €970 and to Bergamo from €885 per car. For an afternoon flight from Malpensa, leave Bressanone about six and a half hours before take-off, and the Forestis about seven hours before.

 ### Do you drive from Lake Como to Bressanone?

Yes. Bellagio to Bressanone starts from €840, Como from €890 and Tremezzo from €970 per car, about 3 h 45 to 4 h 15. Bellagio to the Forestis starts from €915 and Como from €965.

 ### Can you take our skis?

Yes. Ski and snowboard bags fit in the Mercedes V-Class together with the luggage of up to 6 passengers, for the Plose or the Dolomiti Superski area. Tell us how many ski bags you have when you book.

 ### Do you provide child seats?

Yes. Baby seats, child seats and boosters are free of charge on long journeys such as Milan to Bressanone. Tell us the age of each child when you book so we can prepare the right seats.

 ### Is MilanobyCar a local company?

Yes. MilanobyCar is a licensed NCC private hire company based in Milan since 1993, run by Adrian and a small team. We are not a global platform or a booking app: you deal with the same people from the first email to the end of your trip. When we work with trusted local partner chauffeurs, MilanobyCar remains responsible for your booking.

### Which Airport for Bressanone: Verona, Bergamo, Linate or Malpensa?

Verona is the closest major airport to Bressanone, about 2 h 10 by car, and transfers from there are on request. Of the Milan airports, Bergamo is the closest at about 3 h 05, then Linate at about 3 h 30 and Malpensa at about 4 hours, on the far side of Milan. Malpensa has the most long-haul and international flights, so many of our guests land there and drive straight round Milan to South Tyrol.

### Bressanone, the Plose and the Valle Isarco

Bressanone, Brixen in German, is one of the oldest towns in Tyrol, a bishop's seat for centuries, with its cathedral, cloister and the Hofburg palace in a compact old town where the Isarco and Rienza rivers meet. Novacella Abbey, just north of town, is known for its library and its white wines, and from late November Piazza Duomo hosts a Christmas market. Above the town the Plose has its own ski area, and the Val di Funes, below the Odle peaks, is a short drive away.

### Forestis Dolomites: Getting There

The Forestis Dolomites stands at Palmschoss, at about 1,800 m on the Plose above Bressanone. From the motorway exit it is about 20 km of mountain road, around 30 minutes, with no pass to cross. In winter the road is cleared for the Plose ski area, and our cars are winter-equipped. We drive to the hotel entrance and collect you there for the trip back to Milan or Malpensa.

### Practical Tips: Saturdays and the Drive Back

Saturday is change-over day in the Dolomites and the A22 Brenner motorway can be slow between Bolzano and Verona, so we plan extra time. For an afternoon flight from Malpensa, we usually suggest leaving Bressanone about six and a half hours before take-off, and about seven hours from the Forestis.
