Private Day Trip from Milan## Brescia from Milan: two thousand years in one walk

Brescia is the second largest city in Lombardy and one of the least known to foreign visitors, yet its centre holds what the city calls the largest and best-preserved Roman archaeological area in northern Italy. The Capitolium, a temple built in 73 AD under the emperor Vespasian, stands on the old forum above a Republican sanctuary with its painted walls, and houses the bronze Winged Victory, the symbol of the city. A short walk away, the monastery of San Salvatore and Santa Giulia, founded in 753 by Desiderius, later the last Longobard king, is now the city museum. Both belong to the UNESCO World Heritage site “The Longobards in Italy”, listed in 2011. About 95 km from Milan on the A4, Brescia is one of the most rewarding [day trips from Milan](https://www.milanobycar.com/day-trip-from-milan) for anyone interested in history.

Much of the old centre is a limited-traffic zone, so your driver drops you at its edge and collects you when you are ready, wherever you finish. The day has room for Piazza della Loggia and the two cathedrals after the museums, and for a Franciacorta winery or the shore of Lake Garda on the way back with an extra hour. **The price is per vehicle, not per person**: from **€650** with an E-Class for two, from **€735** with a V-Class for up to six.

Frequently Asked Questions## Brescia Day Trip from Milan — FAQ

How far is Brescia from Milan?

About 95 km. By car it takes 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes on the A4 motorway, a little more at rush hour. Your driver drops you at the edge of the historic centre.

How much does a private day trip from Milan to Brescia cost?

From €650 per car with a Mercedes E-Class (up to 2 passengers) and from €735 with a V-Class (up to 6), for 8 hours with the distance included. Weekends are +20%, major holidays +50%, extra hours €75 (E-Class) or €85 (V-Class).

Are the museums open every day?

No. The Roman archaeological park and the Santa Giulia museum are closed on non-holiday Mondays. A combined ticket covers the archaeological area and the city museums, and buying it online in advance is recommended.

Can the car drive into the centre of Brescia?

Much of the historic centre is a limited-traffic zone, so we drop you at the nearest point to Piazza del Foro and collect you wherever you finish. The main sights are all within a short walk of one another.

Can we combine Brescia with Franciacorta or Lake Garda?

Yes. The Franciacorta wineries are 20–30 minutes away and Sirmione on Lake Garda about 40 minutes. With the museums it makes a full day, so we suggest an extra hour or two. Write it in the booking notes and we confirm the plan and the price.

Is a guide included?

No. Your driver is not a licensed tour guide and does not guide inside the sites, but with years of experience on these roads can recommend the best places, viewpoints and restaurants and give you practical tips. A licensed local guide can be booked on request.

### Brescia by private car or by train?

Brescia is on the high-speed line, and the fastest trains from Milan take well under an hour, so the train is a reasonable option for the city alone. A private car makes sense when you want door-to-door comfort, travel as a family or group, or want to add a Franciacorta winery or Lake Garda, which the train does not combine easily.

### What makes Brescia worth a day from Milan?

Few Italian cities show so many periods in so little space: Roman temples, a Longobard monastery, Romanesque and Baroque cathedrals side by side, and Renaissance squares from the centuries of Venetian rule. It is lively but not crowded, and its food and wine, from casoncelli to Franciacorta, are reasons in themselves.

### How much is a Brescia day trip?

MilanobyCar charges a fixed price per car: from €650 for two passengers in a Mercedes E-Class and from €735 for up to six in a V-Class, for 8 hours with the distance included, plus fuel, tolls and parking. Museum tickets are extra. The exact price for your date appears in the booking form.
