Transportation company in Italy and Europe

“One transportation company is as good as another”? Think again.

Many travelers chase the lowest price when booking airport transfers, city rides, or long-distance trips across Europe. The saying “one company is as good as the other” sounds convenient—but it often hides a risky reality.

I’m Adrian, owner and driver of a licensed passenger transport company. Here’s the key difference most people overlook:

In the European Union (and many neighboring countries), commercial passenger transport requires proper licensing. Vehicles carrying paying passengers must meet strict standards: the car needs a valid transportation license, regular technical inspections, commercial insurance that actually covers passengers, and drivers must hold appropriate qualifications (background checks, professional competence, sometimes medical exams).

Yet plenty of budget offers come from online booking agencies—many based in Russia, Asia, the UK (post-Brexit rules differ), Eastern Europe, or elsewhere—that connect travelers with unlicensed or barely controlled drivers. These services often operate illegally, including the use of ordinary private cars without the required passenger transport permits, skipping proper insurance for hire/reward journeys, and employing drivers who lack the mandatory credentials.

What’s the real cost of “saving” money?

  • Safety risks — No guaranteed vehicle maintenance or driver vetting.
  • No proper insurance — In case of an accident, passengers may face huge personal liability or receive little/no compensation.
  • Legal trouble — Both the driver and passenger can be fined (in some countries, up to hundreds of euros, even for the traveler using the service).
  • No accountability — If something goes wrong (delay, cancellation, lost luggage), good luck getting real support.

Cheaper isn’t always better if “cheap” means unregulated and unsafe.

Next time you book, check:

  • Does the company openly show its EU/national transport license number?
  • Are vehicles and drivers clearly presented as licensed for passenger service?
  • Are reviews mentioning reliability, insurance, and professionalism?

Your journey matters. Choose the service that values safety and legality—not just the lowest headline price.

Safe travels! Adrian, licensed transport professional

Italy Transportation FAQ

How can I recognize a legal transportation car?
The fastest way, check if the car has on the back, next to the car plate, a medalion with the license number.

How about the driver?
A real professional driver never wears jeans :-).

Pick-up place at the airport
A legal driver waits for you always inside the airport, not in the parking or nearby gas stations.

Drop off at the destination
A legal driver drops you off exactly at your destination address because we can enter the Traffic Limitation Area, called ZTL.
