Who is ready for a trip to the Alps in style? I can imagine that you are, because if you're not.. let me see if I could change your mind. When most of us think of a pit stop in Europe on the way to another destination, we think of somewhere like Paris or Rome — bustling, touristy cities — while Switzerland doesn't necessarily hold the same appeal. But hear me out on this one, Switzerland is by no means not worth a visit! Things to do in St. Moritz:   There are plenty of things to do in St. Moritz, Switzerland and St. Moritz holidays are ideal for a family getaway vacation or romantic honeymoon: Dish out some fresh powder at the slopes, soak up the incredible views from atop the mountains, visit shops and galleries in town, test your skills on a Swiss golf course or four-wheel drive trails; It's all yours for the taking when you take St. Moritz holidays!

With Switzerland being a mountainous country, you are more likely to be travelling in an air-conditioned vehicle than you would be in a sledge on the world-famous Cresta Run. Don't get us wrong though, there are lot of places to have fun and enjoy a winter sport in the Alps.

Zurich airport is the main gateway to Switzerland, with excellent transport links to the rest of the country. From Zurich, it's possible to travel by train to St Moritz in under 4hrs. From Zurich Airport, take the S-Bahn train towards Sihlfeld and change at Bauma station for a connecting service to Chur. This journey takes around 50minutes, then join the Rhaetian (Rhaetische Bahn or RhB) railway for the final section of your journey. The RhB railway is one of Europe's most scenic rail journeys and it's worth taking some time on board your train to enjoy the views as you climb deep into the mountains. The journey from Chur to St Moritz takes around 2 hours, but allow plenty of time for connections at each station and if possible book onward journeys online before you travel

From Milan Malpensa airport, the train journey is in three stages but is equally fascinating over its 5.5hr travel time. The Malpensa Express rolls into the beautiful Milano Centrale station at regular intervals. In Milan hourly trains from Milano Centrale station to Tirano take 2.5hr to make the trip from the bustling city to mountainous apple orchard country. Arriving in Tirano, one crosses a small piazza to the Bernina Express station for the final leg to St Moritz (or Diavolezza Lagalb) over Bernina Pass. From Milan Malpensa airport, take Malpensa Express train direct from Malpensa Airport Terminal 1 arrivals to Milano Centrale station (1hr 30mins). Change at Milano Centrale station for an hourly train from Milano Centrale station to Tirano (2hr 30mins). At Tirano change onto Bernina Express train direct from Tirano Bernina Express Station to St Moritz (3hr 15mins) or Diavolezza Lagalb (3hr 35mins).

The Bernina Express is a breathtaking journey that takes you from the bustling city of Milan straight into the heart of Switzerland. As you leave St. Moritz, you'll pass over the 2328m Bernina Pass, which leads to Lagalb and Diavolezza stations. After that, you'll pass by the toe of the Morteratsch glacier and eventually reach your destination: Tirano, Italy. The train's journey over this incredible landscape is an engineering marvel in itself, and it's no wonder that the train has been voted one of the world's most scenic railway journeys.

You'll pass through engineering marvels including the Circular Viaduct Bursio—a bridge made of concrete and iron that looks like it was designed by aliens! But even more impressive than its design are its proportions: at around 100 meters high, it's one of the world's highest viaducts. And this isn't even all of what makes this journey so special: there are also a number of beautiful churches along the route (check out San Pietro di Tirano if you want to see some incredible artwork), as well as stunning views of nature everywhere else!
