How to get to Sirmione

By car: if you want to reach Sirmione by car, take the A4 motorway exit at Desenzano del Garda and drive towards Sirmione; or exit at Peschiera del Garda, then take the right lane in the direction of Desenzano and then follow directions for Sirmione. In summer it’s better not to use your car because traffic jams are quite frequent in this area of the lake.

Lake Garda is a nice and beautiful lake, to visit the island in the middle of it is I suggest you and if you have kids why not, there is something for everyone aged. You can eat ice cream in summer on the beach or in winter go next to a fire in winter and taste a hot chocolate with almonds. Also, if you want to walk while eating delicious ice cream, go to Sirmione. There you will find the famous house of Catullus, where the poet lived.

All in all the lake provided us with a serene, relaxing way to spend a day. One of the most memorable parts was climbing up the tower at sunset. We came out at the top and watched as the sky turned midnight blue and the lake glowed like molten silver. There were no other people on the tower with us so we had perfect views of both mountains on either side of us, It was an unforgettable end to an unforgettable trip.
